About Boyd Carter
I became a member of Fine Art America in 2015 but did not become active until October 9, 2018, after retiring from a number of projects. My primary goal for participating in Fine Art America is to learn how to monetize artistic expression. From my inventory of thousands of images, most still in 35mm film format (negatives), what kinds of images are mass-marketable, and what must I do to process those images in preparation for selling to the marketplace? After my first week of active participation, the first thing I learned is that you must meet technical requirements or the artwork cannot be produced. Every time I upload an image, I get the following reminders: 1. Do Not Enlarge Your Images 2. Do Not Use File Compression 3. Make Sure Your Cropping is OK 4. Check for Focus / Motion Blur 5. Check for Even Illumination 6. Check for Flash Glare 7. Maximum file size is 25mb While this is just “plain common sense”, it is a useful reminder that I shouldn’t waste my time taking a 35mm negative to a digital file format without taking all of these things into consideration; plus, of course, being reasonably sure that the image is something someone would be interested in buying. Speaking of an image that someone would be interested in buying, there are many images in the "Public Domain" (PD) that I would be interested in buying, and I'm sure others would as well. Accordingly, some of my images are sourced from the PD to make this possible. Any image sourced from the PD will have "PD" at the end of the description of the image. Boyd
